California Primary · June 2
California could elect a governor in Trump's pocket.
Under California's top-two primary, the two highest finishers on June 2 advance to November regardless of party. Republicans Steve Hilton and Chad Bianco lead the field while several Democrats split the rest of the vote. Hilton has Trump's endorsement. Bianco was a dues-paying member of the Oath Keepers, the far-right militia whose members staged the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Becerra and Steyer are the two Democrats with a plausible path to the top two. We've put together two ways to learn about them, ahead of the June 2 vote.
