Gubernatorial Debate (CBS California)

The first of two televised debates among the leading 2026 gubernatorial candidates. Watching is one of the simplest ways to be ready to talk with friends and neighbors who are still deciding. Eight candidates have confirmed: Becerra, Bianco, Hilton, Mahan, Porter, Steyer, Thurmond, and Villaraigosa.

How to watch: Live on CBS stations in Los Angeles (KCAL/KCBS), San Francisco, San Diego, Sacramento, Fresno, and Santa Barbara. Streaming on CBSLA.com, CBS News 24/7, Paramount+, Roku, and Pluto TV. A 30-minute pre-show, Countdown to the Debate, begins at 5:00 PM PT. The event itself is a closed production with no public tickets.

May Day Strong is a national day of action organized by a coalition including Indivisible, the NEA, National Nurses United, MoveOn, and others. The theme is Workers Over Billionaires. Participants are asked to refuse business as usual: no work, no school, no shopping.

Rallies and marches in dozens of locations across greater Los Angeles and beyond.

The second televised debate among the leading 2026 gubernatorial candidates. Less than four weeks before the primary, with mail ballots already in voters' hands. Seven candidates have qualified under CNN's higher polling threshold: Becerra, Bianco, Hilton, Mahan, Porter, Steyer, and Villaraigosa. Moderated by Kaitlan Collins and Elex Michaelson.
