The Next Fight · General Election, November 3, 2026

The primary is behind us. Now we turn to November.

Control of the U.S. House will come down to a small number of competitive seats, and one of them is now within reach of an organized Los Angeles. After last year's redistricting under Proposition 50, the 48th Congressional District was redrawn to reach from the San Diego suburbs up into Palm Springs and Indian Wells, the registration shifted toward Democrats by roughly ten points, and the Republican incumbent decided not to seek re-election. The June 2 primary set the November matchup.

California's 48th Congressional District now includes Palm Springs & Indian Wells

Democrat

Marni von Wilpert

San Diego City Councilmember and former civil prosecutor.

Republican

Jim Desmond

San Diego County Supervisor, endorsed by the retiring incumbent.

We are hoping to adopt CA-48 and put West Hollywood volunteers to work on voter contact through the fall. If that is something you want to be part of, tell us now, so we can build the summer around it.
